A Traditional Kitchen Inspired by Cornwalls Coast

This Cornwall inspired traditional kitchen in Stithians, Cornwall was designed to bring together timeless craftsmanship with a modern edge. The client chose the simple-grained painted Hardwick range for its modern traditional feel, perfectly suited to the property’s character. With a coastal-inspired palette of soft blue and warm off-white, this Cornwall kitchen radiates calm and natural light, echoing the serene atmosphere of the surrounding coast and countryside.

We worked closely with both the client and the architect from the build stage to shape the space in a way that maximised practicality as well as beauty. Advising on the placement and size of the windows meant we could ensure natural light, intelligent storage, and ergonomic flow throughout the room. Every element of this traditional kitchen in the heart of Stithians, Cornwall was carefully considered to create a design that feels both welcoming and enduring.

The traditional detailing was key to the success of this kitchen. A bespoke dresser adds to the country-style character, while block-end posts emphasise the quality of a hand-made finish. The custom-built chimney and mantle frame the hob beautifully, giving it a central, architectural presence. Bronze handles paired with a complementary tap and a Belfast ceramic sink provide touches of understated luxury, while wicker vegetable baskets and tongue-and-groove panelling reinforce the rustic Cornish charm.

This traditional kitchen project is a fine example of how modern design thinking and traditional features can blend seamlessly. It offers a space that feels light, timeless, and personal — a kitchen built not just for cooking, but for living. By balancing elegance with practicality, the finished design reflects both the client’s lifestyle and the enduring appeal of a true classic kitchen in Cornwall.
