An elegant showcase of craftsmanship and design harmony, this beautiful sage green Shaker kitchen in Mawgan demonstrates how traditional charm and modern functionality can blend seamlessly within a period home. Designed and brought to life by Now Kitchens, this remodel transforms this space into a calm, cohesive heart of the home — where heritage character meets contemporary living. Set within a quirky turn-of-the-century property filled with original features and high ceilings, the brief from our customer was clear. They wanted a kitchen that felt sympathetic to their home’s heritage, while offering the practicality and modern elegance needed for everyday living. The layout had evolved over time, resulting in a disconnected flow and limited workspace, particularly in the adjoining utility room, which also served as the main entrance for guests. Our challenge was to reimagine the entire space — uniting the kitchen and utility areas through a shared palette, improved functionality, and elevated design detail.
The homeowners envisioned a warm, welcoming Shaker kitchen that offered both aesthetic charm and intelligent storage. Their must-haves included a central island with seating for two, plentiful drawer and pull-out storage to reduce worktop clutter, and a thoughtfully designed utility space that felt just as presentable as the main kitchen. The result is a space that feels calm, balanced, and beautifully composed — a kitchen that works as hard as it looks.
To bring their vision to life, our design team introduced a classic Shaker-style kitchen design in a soft Sage Green wood-grain effect, thoughtfully chosen to reflect the home’s period character. Inside, Arlington Oak interiors and solid oak cutlery inserts elevate the tactile experience, adding depth, warmth, and authenticity to every opening.
A large central island anchors the room, combining deep drawers with generous prep surfaces. A tall larder unit fitted with five internal drawers and a corner LeMans pull-out provides exceptional accessibility, while concealed waste and recycling bins maintain a clean and clutter-free finish.
The adjoining utility room mirrors the kitchen’s colour and material palette — complete with bespoke cabinetry and dedicated storage for laundry essentials, cleaning supplies, and a tall freezer — ensuring a cohesive flow between the two spaces.
The many elegant features that bring this bespoke Shaker kitchen to life include a durable Unistone ‘Alaska White’ quartzstone worktop, introducing a natural, understated texture that blends effortlessly with the soft sage tones of the cabinetry. This refined surface continues seamlessly into tall splashbacks and window ledges, creating a cohesive and bespoke finish throughout the space.
Adding a touch of refined personality, a bespoke glass splashback in ‘Myrrh’ — a subtly sparkled pale olive green, crafted by The Glass Smith, Wales — enhances the sense of bespoke luxury while reflecting light gently throughout the room.
Finishing touches such as brushed chrome bow handles tie the scheme together, perfectly complementing the customer’s statement Range cooker and contributing to the overall timeless appeal.

The kitchen’s design was built around the clients’ chosen Range cooker, supported by a practical suite of integrated appliances including a fridge, mid-height freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. To enhance convenience, we incorporated a Quooker Combi+ boiling water tap, providing instant boiling water, and an S-Box Chameleon pop-up socket with USB ports discreetly set into the island — ideal for modern living.
Slimline Targa under-cabinet lighting casts soft, even illumination across the worktops, ensuring that functionality never compromises elegance.
The completed space embodies everything a Shaker kitchen should be — timeless, practical, and quietly sophisticated. Every element was designed with intention: to enhance usability, simplify daily routines, and elevate the aesthetic of this period home.
By pairing traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation, this remodel not only transforms the kitchen and utility areas but also creates a cohesive living environment that feels beautifully resolved from every angle.
The result is a serene and functional space that complements the property’s heritage while introducing a modern sense of calm — a kitchen designed for real life, reimagined with timeless Now Kitchens flair.
As we look to the enduring appeal of classic kitchen design, the Shaker kitchen continues to define timeless sophistication. Its ability to harmonise traditional craftsmanship with contemporary living ensures it remains a favourite for homeowners seeking both beauty and functionality. This sage green Shaker kitchen in Mawgan perfectly exemplifies that balance — a thoughtful blend of heritage charm, modern practicality, and understated luxury.
Every element of this design reflects meticulous attention to detail, from the tactile wood-grain cabinetry and warm oak interiors to the refined quartzstone worktops and bespoke glass splashback. Together, they create a space that feels calm, cohesive, and enduringly elegant.
More than just a kitchen, this remodel has redefined the home’s heart — transforming a once-disjointed layout into a welcoming environment where style and usability coexist in perfect harmony. A true reflection of Now Kitchens’ design philosophy, this project celebrates the beauty of Cornish living through craftsmanship, comfort, and timeless design.
“A Big thank you to Now Kitchens.
In the middle of a new build, with brain fog from looking at too many kitchens, we popped into the Now Kitchen showroom in Helston and met the wonderful Christine. She talked us through the different styles on show, budgets and a rough idea of our wish list.
We left the rest to her. The design she came up with was just perfect. Both the kitchen and utility look fantastic and works well with the open plan design. The quality of the cupboards, worktops (from Duke stone) and appliances are second to none.
Everything delivered and fitted on time. Dean the fitter was a true craftsmen and a pleasure to have on site. Being a decorator myself I have seen my share of new build sites / kitchens and I would place Now Kitchens as one of the best I have seen and worked with. So pleased we went with them and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new kitchen.
Thank you Now Kitchens.”
